Overview

Tutors individuals and small groups in basic education subjects and performs related work as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

No additional experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Grades student responses to achievement tests using an answer sheet so that the teacher may prescribe a plan of study for the adult student. Assembles materials to be presented such as textbooks, workbooks, writing paper, pencils, and distributes to students under the direction of the teacher. Tutors students individually and in small groups with lesson assignments to present learning concepts. Operates duplicating equipment to reproduce instructional materials for the class as needed by the student and/or teacher. Assists teaching staff. Maintains student files. Maintains student log on proper forms such as tests results and personal histories. Assembles materials to be presented and prepare for daily lessons. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibility.
