About the role

As Principal Product Manager for New Assortment & Fulfilment Missions, you will be a recognised expert on customer fulfilment and a specialist contributor to drive the Product development for new customer propositions. You will be the owner of the end-to-end fulfilment experience for Tesco customer propositions such as extending the product assortment online and personalise the fulfilment experiences including missions fulfilled by 3rd party sellers, to meet customer convenience. You will leverage the relevant platforms and existing teams to ensure we enable world class digital experiences. You will drive a combined global vision, product strategy, end to end roadmap and execution across technology. You will be the main interface with the business and commercial teams, ensuring that the goals and roadmaps are joined up, empowering Product teams to ensure that the digital experience is aligned to customer proposition KPIs and relevant physical fulfilment archetypes. You will also be accountable for the continuous improvement and evolution of the Product function at Tesco

  • Drive the global product vision, strategy, and execution for Fulfilment Propositions at Tesco, working closely with the Heads of Product across many areas
  • Be a thought leader in the Digital Experience, Supplier and Fulfilment domains and contribute to broader discussions, strategy and vision for retail and fulfilment platforms at Tesco
  • Foster innovation, scientific discovery, and market analysis with a view of delivering an actionable insight for a long-term development roadmap
  • Work closely with other Product managers, Product teams and business partners, across multiple business units and domains (channels, markets, clients etc…) to solve customer and business problems, defining and agreeing outcomes and key results
  • Work closely with the relevant engineering and data science teams to deliver maximum business value with least effort, always delivering value in slices
  • Represent the Product organisation in key strategic decisions concerning relevant technology platform and suppliers
  • Use leadership and negotiation skills to define and influence outcomes both within and outside of the organisation in order to achieve the best for Tesco customers, colleagues, suppliers and partners
  • Determine and define the right mix of KPIs to judge the efficacy and drive material improvements in optimisation capability, whilst collaborating on the right business KPIs that drive value to Tesco’s P&L
  • Make build vs buy decisions in collaboration with senior technology counterparts based on what is best for the Product strategy
  • Inspire, mentor and coach other Product Managers and Teams improving this discipline and capability at Tesco
  • Contribute towards hiring/ building a great pool of Product Managers for my/ other functions

You will be responsible for

  • Members of Product teams (Product Managers, Designers and Engineers)
  • Members of the Data Science Team
  • Colleagues and business stakeholders across Tesco, i.e., Online and Fulfilment
  • Suppliers and 3rd parties
  • Coaching and mentoring product managers in the Product Management discipline

You will need

  • Platform product management
  • A good understanding of the digital experience starting with supplier onboarding, product set-up, fulfilment journeys, finance and invoicing.
  • Understanding of the latest market insights and evolving customer needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical/ analytical approach and great problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evangelise a product domain to the wider business
  • Team player who could work collaboratively with other members of the team
  • Ownership, responsiveness and commitment towards assigned work
  • Strong decision making and prioritization skills, especially when multiple trade-offs are involved, and faster decision are required
  • Empathy and good listening skills to understand the needs/pain points of your customers/ stakeholders
  • Supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories/acceptance criterions
