Product Manager - Loss Prevention

About the role
As Product Manager you will own development of Tesco’s strategic fraud and loss prevention platform for all five European markets that Tesco operates in.
Your mission is to balance speed with security to create distinctive, frictionless experiences for customers. You’ll have every resource at Tesco’s disposal to solve the ‘unexpected item in the bagging area’ problem in our stores, to ensure that customers can purchase with a single click online; and more!
Our product vision is to provide a single source of decision making for loss prevention within Tesco, across any channel or market. Our API service operates at the point of transaction, so that Tesco chooses which transactions to allow, block or intervene in, in order manage losses while growing sales.
You will lead on global product roadmap and execution. You will solve customer problems at scale and contribute to wider strategy on profiling and risk management. You will scale up our API product for new use cases and customer channels. You will work closely with analysts and data scientists to develop new machine learning models.
You’ll work as part of a cross-functional product development team, built up of product managers, software engineers and analysts. Product Management is based in the UK, Engineering is based in the Budapest Hub in Hungary – and we work as a single Agile product development team within Tesco Technology.
You will be responsible for
Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of your key responsibilities and measures:
- Have accountability for solving the customer problems related to loss prevention and customer friction across all customer touchpoints, working with relevant client product managers where appropriate.
- Determine the product strategy for this area and contribute to the product vision.
- Run discovery sessions with other product teams and business partners, across multiple business units and domains (channels, markets, clients etc…) to solve customer and business problems
- Define the right mix of Outcomes and Key Results to judge the efficiency of our loss prevention capability and drive material improvements, whilst collaborating on the right business and customer Key Results that drive value to Tesco’s P&L
- Help the development team in breaking down a complex piece of work/epic into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered and tested with customers faster
- Steer sprint planning sessions by work with engineering to plan sprints that release maximum business value with the least effort
- Identify and drive improvements to the way in which product outcomes, key results and metrics are measured to ensure product quality, reliability and security
- Handle conflicting priorities well, communicate clearly and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence
Become a thought leader in the risk management space and contribute to broader discussions for real-time intelligence and profiling at Tesco
You will need
Algorithmic product development and optimisation
Knowledge and experience of paradigms and trade-offs surrounding software architectures and software technical design choices.
