Medical Oncology: At VCA BAVS, our oncology team designs an individualized treatment plan for each pet patient using the most advanced and effective treatments, much like those used in human medicine.

Even better, today’s cancer treatments are often much quicker with far fewer side effects, so pets remain comfortable and happy throughout treatment.

Skills that our Veterinary Assistant's in Medical Oncology utilize, but are not limited to:

  • Physical examinations, patient assessment, and collecting patient histories
  • Processing laboratory samples in-house
  • Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs
  • Managing medical records, reports and correspondence
  • Assist with Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology, Ultrasound, CT Scans)
  • Assist with patient recovery
  • Pharmacy
  • Collecting detailed patient histories at check in for oncology consults
  • Venipuncture/catheter placement
  • Knowledge and experience with chemotherapy drugs and safety protocols
  • Safe animal restraint and handling
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Effective verbal, listening, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services

Schedule : Full-Time opportunities available, (5) 8-hour shifts

Compensation

Starting range is $ 22 to $ 30/ hour
