Job description
Job Description SummarySpecialize in magnetic resonance imaging scanners. They inject patients with contrast media, such as a dye, so that the images will show up on the scanner. The scanners use magnetic fields in combination with the contrast agent to produce images that a physician can use to diagnose medical problems.

Job Description Required License Certification and Registration:Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Copy of academic degree or transcriptrequired.
Description:MRI technologistsoperateMRI scanners that take images of patients’ bodies toassistwith diagnostic testing. Theyare responsible forpresenting clear images to physicians to providean accuratediagnosis to a patient. MRI technologists ensure theyare followingsafety standards and explain the MRI process to patients.MRI technologistsmonitorpatients during scanning. They alsomonitorequipment functions and ensure they capture clear images so physicians can providean accuratediagnosis. They also recognize abnormalities and irregularities in images and understand the difference between a quality image and one that needs to be retaken.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

(Infrequent) Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient thatcan notassistin the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100additionalpounds,assistancewill berequiredfrom another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of forceisneeded to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of forceisrequired topush a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability tomaintain20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objectsclose at handor at a distance.
