Job description

ABOUT STANDARD BOTS

At Standard Bots, we're revolutionizing real-world automation by making robotic systems accessible to everyone. Our AI-powered platform enables robots to tackle unprecedented challenges through an intuitive instruction interface, bringing the power of software automation to physical spaces.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist senior engineers in the design of PCBAs for robotics systems (including motor controllers, power distribution, and sensor interface boards).
  • Create schematics for sub-circuits and perform PCB layout for simpler designs or breakout boards under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Help maintain the component library by creating and verifying symbols and footprints.
  • Support board bring-up activities, execute test plans, measure signal quality, and troubleshoot hardware issues in the lab.
  • Assist in preparing fabrication and assembly files (Gerbers, BOMs) and release them to manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Mechanical and Software engineering teams to ensure hardware integrates physically and functionally.
  • Communicate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to resolve simple engineering questions (EQs).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and testing electronics through university capstone projects, research labs, or internships.
  • EE Fundamentals:
  • Power Electronics: Understanding of buck/boost converters, LDOs, and motor drivers.
  • Digital Electronics: Familiarity with Microcontrollers (MCU), common interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART), and basic high-speed concepts.
  • Analog Electronics: Op-amps, filters, and sensing circuits.
  • Basic proficiency with Altium Designer (or similar tools like KiCad/Eagle) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and soldering irons to debug hardware.
  • Experience troubleshooting bugs and documenting findings.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts and ask questions when stuck.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB for data analysis or test automation.
  • Exposure to Embedded C/C++ programming for MCUs or DSPs.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools like LTspice.
  • Participation in student competitions like Formula SAE, Solar Car, or Robotics Club.
  • Coursework or project exposure to high-speed interfaces (USB, Ethernet) or camera systems (MIPI, GMSL).
  • Understanding of basic rigid-flex or HDI PCB concepts.
  • Interest in motor control theory or robotic locomotion.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
