Role Overview We are seeking an autonomous and principled AML/CTF and Sanctions Compliance Officer to serve as our designated Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Contact Person. Operating in the Second Line of Defense, this role is part of a team that reports directly to the Management Board.
Key Responsibilities Risk Governance & Board Advisory
- Maintain and update the macro-level and individual ML/TF and sanctions risk assessment frameworks in line with EFSA and EBA Guidelines.
- Provide regular written updates, risk-exposure information, and a comprehensive annual compliance activity report to the Management Board.
- Advise senior management on onboarding high-risk customers.
- Propose measures to eliminate compliance deficiencies identified by your role, auditors or supervisory authorities.
Internal Controls & Operations
- Audit and monitor the efficient application of AML/CTF and Sanctions control measures across operational business lines (First Line of Defence).
- Ensure internal policies and procedures are updated immediately when new risks or legal changes emerge
Investigations & FIU Liaison
- Handle the collection, analysis, and secure retention of internal unusual transaction reports, and file formal Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with the FIU.
- Oversee international financial sanctions obligations, including real-time
screening controls and asset-freezing protocols.
Training & Awareness
- Document and execute the annual staff training plan.
- Educate employees on active financial crime trends, methods, and operational typologies.
Requirements
- Proven experience identifying, assessing, and managing ML/TF and Sanctions risks within a regulated financial institution.
- Degree in law, economics, finance or business (or relevant in-service training) with the advanced analytical skills needed to decode complex, high-value, or unusual transaction streams
- Strong and broad understanding of compliance laws, regulations, and industry standards. ICA or ACAMS certification is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and working proficiency in Estonian.
- Sufficient seniority and length of service to carry out compliance tasks efficiently, independently, and autonomously.
