Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist with receiving, preparing, and distributing medications. All work is done under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.
- Package and distribute medications under the direction of the on-duty pharmacist.
- Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations observe the pharmacy's policies on best practice.
Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints.
Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with pharmacy guidelines.
- Report product incidents as required in accordance with pharmacy policy.
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
- Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and certification requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by Pharmacist.
- The following functions require the professional judgement of a pharmacist and may not be performed by a pharmacy technician
- Acceptance of verbal prescriptions.
- Certification of filled prescriptions.
- Entry of orders into the computer system without verification by pharmacist
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) Required
