Job description

MIS SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

The System Administrator at a high level, manages, maintains, and troubleshoots DHHS’s rapidly expanding and changing infrastructure to support new business applications and services. This position requires one to prioritize mission-critical tasks and ensure updates and other maintenance tasks don’t hamper daily operations.

Additionally, this position will serve as an internal escalation point for the Technicians and Service Desk Associates. You will have admin access to core technologies within DH enterprise and all the responsibilities associated with it. This role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing cloud systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.

Essential Duties

  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies to include Disaster Recovery Procedures while helping to develop the enterprise’s BCP
  • Design and implement cloud systems and platforms
  • Ensure efficient utilization of cloud resources, including CPU, memory, and storage
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Implement automation to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Works under the general direction of management
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • CCTV installation and maintenance (IP cameras, Monitoring Stations, NVR, etc.)
  • Creates new documentation and updates existing documents that serves to capture domain and network information
  • Participate in team on-call rotations.
  • Support MIS during natural disasters such as Hurricane per DH’s Hurricane Preparedness Policy
  • Communications network maintenance and implementation (Sat Phones, Analog Phones, VoIP Instruments, Handsets for 2-way communications, etc.)
  • Properly use any Asset and Inventory Control Systems implemented
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Contributor to DH IT Policies and Security
  • General IoT devices configuration, installation and maintenance
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Manage new tools implemented to aid with the efficient workflow within MIS
  • Monitor existing systems to ensure structural integrity
  • Working in a shift system is required for this role
  • Monitor Patch Management Systems and utilize them to ensure our security posture remains compliant
  • Coaching Technicians, Service Desk and any other Associate within MIS
  • Answer calls coming into the Helpdesk Line and creating the necessary ticket for the request
  • Updating and closing tickets in a satisfactory manner, ensuring not to breach any established SLA
  • Assist with the deployment and installation of new hardware and software
  • Install and configure operating systems and other software and routinely test installed software for glitch detection and other issues
  • Provide technical directions to IT support staff
  • Ensure constant availability of technical resources
  • Research and review new and existing business applications that will make DH a SmartHospital with a view to giving Patients the WOW effect while interacting with us
  • Provide detailed information on incidents and outages affecting end users and backend infrastructure
  • Be available to assist with critical issues outside of normal working hours to ensure customer experience is not compromised and the integrity of the IT environment is not at risk. This will include weekends and holidays if there are emergencies
  • Work on multiple IT projects providing regular updates as defined within the project to ensure success from launch to implementation
  • Maintain computer networks and systems, including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers, and other physical hardware

  • Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Investigate faults in the network and update network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Constantly developing with new and existing technologies through the available training resources provided by MIS
  • Must be able to lift upwards to 50 lbs. for special projects (e.g., new server/SAN installation)
  • Serve as a resource to any other department within DH whiles representing MIS for the purpose of capturing information from an IT perspective to discuss with the team later
  • Able and willing to travel to multiple sites within New Providence, The Bahamas at large and any other location globally where DH may expand
  • Assist the MIS Department with any other duties or tasks assigned.
