Private Sector Housing Surveyor
Job description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Northampton to assist with the appointment of a Private Sector Housing Surveyor, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay : £24.50 - £34.00 per hour
Summary
The Private Sector Housing Surveyor will support the Disabled Facilities Grants Team in delivering mandatory adaptation grants for residents in private sector housing. The role involves carrying out property surveys, preparing technical specifications and drawings, managing adaptation projects from design through to completion, and providing advice and support to clients, contractors, Occupational Therapists, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Visit clients in their homes to assess needs and advise on suitable adaptations in conjunction with Occupational Therapists.
- Undertake property surveys and prepare technical schedules of work, specifications, drawings, and designs.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, solicitors, Occupational Therapists, social workers, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
- Obtain quotations, evaluate contractor submissions, and provide recommendations.
- Prepare tender documentation and evaluate tenders where applicable.
- Coordinate and submit applications for planning permission, building regulations approval, and party wall matters.
Qualification
- A good standard of education (e.g., A Levels, HND or equivalent).
- Professional qualification in Building Studies, Construction, or a related discipline.
Essentials
- Experience and/or knowledge of building surveying, housing, construction, or related fields.
- Understanding of building construction, health and safety requirements, and building control procedures.
- Knowledge of contract administration, procurement processes, and project management principles.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
