Job description

CEDA is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Backhoe Operator to join our operations team in an industrial mining environment in Fort McMurray, AB. This role is ideal for an experienced equipment operator who takes pride in working safely, maintaining equipment, and contributing to efficient site operations. Experience with hydraulic pumping equipment is an asset, but training will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a rubber tire backhoe in an industrial mining environment
  • Operate a hydraulic pump attachment for dewatering and slurry pumping
  • Work in areas containing water, slurry, and bitumen
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
  • Monitor pumping operations to ensure safe and efficient performance
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet operational requirements
  • Complete required equipment inspections and operational documentation
  • Follow all company and client health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating a rubber tire backhoe or excavator is preferred
  • Mining, heavy construction, or oil sands experience is considered an asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work safely in changing weather and site conditions
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Reliable, safety-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Previous experience with hydraulic pumping equipment is an asset but not required
