The Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is the leading network of Australian and New Zealand institutional investors committed to accelerating the transition to a resilient, net-zero emissions economy across the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
We are seeking an Analyst to join our Corporate Engagement team. This role supports the coordination of collaborative and systemic investor engagement initiatives aimed at driving company-level decarbonisation outcomes, in line with IGCC’s strategic priorities and its leadership role within the Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) initiative.
Working closely with colleagues and investor members, and reporting to the Director, Corporate Engagement, this role will contribute to the delivery of engagement programs, research, thought leadership and project activities that support investor stewardship and corporate climate action.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop expertise in sustainable finance, investor engagement and climate transition strategies while contributing to meaningful real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Help p rovid e administrative and technical support for the 13 ANZ CA100+ company investor engagement groups - to help them decipher annual climate-related disclosures, define engagement objectives and strategies, coordinate company engagement activities and monitor progress (more information regarding the CA100+ collaborative engagement approach can be found on the CA100+ website and in the CA100+ signatory handbook ).
- Help deliver thought leadership and research projects related to best practice active stewardship, corporate decarbonisation and climate governance , corporate climate disclosures and just transition.
- Help o rganise and facilitate bi-annual IGCC Corporate Engagement Working Group sessions. This is a forum for CA100+ signatories and IGCC members that focuses on climate-related active stewardship and the timely and orderly decarbonisation of companies in key Australian economic sectors. They typically include presentations from global experts, updates from the CA100+ initiative and deep dives into sector-specific or thematic issues relevant to the Australian market.
- Help organise ad-hoc member briefings as required (e.g. pre-AGM company briefings, CA100+ progress, sector insights ).
- Help organise and participate in events and sessions at IGCC’s annual summit.
- Work closely with IGCC’s Investor Practice and Policy teams as required to further IGCC’s strategic goals.
About you
A self-starter with a desire to work in a mission-driven not-for-profit environment. You will ideally have a minimum 2 years’ experience in responsible investment, finance or economics with a focus on climate or environmental matters.
In addition, you will ideally possess the following
- An undergraduate degree.
- Experience in the finance sector, responsible investment, corporate decarbonisation and/or climate policy.
- A broad understanding of international agreements and domestic policies relevant to climate change and corporate decarbonisation.
- An understanding of the role investors play in driving the transition towards net zero.
- Experience understanding and interpreting corporate climate transition plans and associated disclosures.
- Experience delivering or managing the development of research, thought leadership or guidance.
Experience or expertise in any of the following will be highly regarded:
- Investor active stewardship and corporate engagement.
- Corporate climate disclosure frameworks and standards.
- Corporate just transition principles and planning.
- Relevant knowledge or expertise in the oil and gas, mining or manufacturing sectors.
Work arrangements
- This role is being offered as a 1 year contract with the potential opportunity to extend.
- This role is based in Australia. We have offices in Sydney and Melbourne. Flexible and remote working arrangements are available.
- Domestic or international travel may be required from time to time.
- Due to the organisation's regional and global partnerships, occasional work outside standard business hours will be required .
