Deputy Director, Project Governance & Commercial
Job description
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Project Governance & Commercial to support the Director in overseeing commercial operations, project governance, contract administration, procurement oversight, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance across regional data center projects. This role will act as the Director's key operational partner, ensuring that all project activities are executed in accordance with commercial agreements, governance standards, compliance requirements, and project timelines. The successful candidate will work closely with PMO, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Government agencies, and external partners to ensure efficient project delivery and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Project Governance & Delivery Support the Director in overseeing project execution, governance, and operational delivery across assigned data center projects. Ensure project activities comply with approved governance frameworks, internal procedures, and business objectives. Monitor project progress, identify delivery risks, and coordinate corrective actions. Drive accountability across project teams to ensure timely execution and milestone achievement. Commercial & Contract Management Coordinate commercial activities, contract administration, and contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle. Support contract negotiations, change orders, commercial documentation, and vendor communications. Review commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Work closely with Legal and Procurement on contractual compliance. Procurement Oversight Oversee procurement progress and ensure purchasing activities align with project schedules and commercial commitments. Coordinate with Procurement teams regarding vendor performance, sourcing activities, contract execution, and purchasing governance. Monitor procurement risks and support issue resolution. Compliance & Government Coordination Coordinate with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders regarding project approvals and compliance requirements. Ensure project documentation complies with applicable regulations and internal governance standards. Support audit readiness and regulatory reporting activities. Risk Management & Executive Reporting Identify commercial, operational, contractual, and compliance risks. Prepare executive reports, project updates, and governance dashboards. Escalate key issues and provide recommendations to the Director and senior leadership. Monitor action items and ensure timely resolution of project issues. Cross-functional Leadership Work closely with PMO, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Legal, HR, Compliance, and external partners. Facilitate communication between project teams and executive management. Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to ensure successful project execution. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Construction Management, Law, Supply Chain, or related field. 12–15+ years of experience in project governance, commercial management, contract management, infrastructure delivery, or large-scale project environments. Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, procurement, project governance, compliance, and stakeholder management. Experience managing cross-functional and multi-disciplinary project teams. Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong executive reporting and presentation skills. Experience working in multinational organizations. Fluent English communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Industry Background Data Center & Co-location Digital Infrastructure Engineering & Construction (EPC) Mission-Critical Facilities Telecommunications Large-Scale Infrastructure Development Additional Preferred Experience Experience supporting executive leadership or serving as a strategic business partner to senior management. Strong experience in commercial negotiations, contract management, and procurement governance. Experience working with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders. Knowledge of project risk management, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements. Experience supporting regional or multi-country infrastructure projects. Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, project controls, and CAPEX-intensive environments is an advantage.
