The Area Rehab Director is responsible for direction and implementation of rehab services at assigned facilities. Accountable for achieving fiscal, clinical, operational, and quality benchmarks as established utilizing Legacy Healthcare Services (LHS) tools and modeling. Instrumental in helping to identify clinical needs of the census in assigned geographic area and ensures the hires support the LHS staffing model and clinical reach for the anticipated caseload. Develops and maintains professional relationships with customers, clients, and LHS personnel at all levels.

Develops and maintains professional relationships with customers, clients, and LHS personnel at all levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interpersonal

  • Communicates effectively and fluently with key management personnel of all assigned facilities and with LHS corporate personnel. Represents the company’s best interest and communicates the company directives to assigned area in a positive, enthusiastic, professional way that promotes company culture and understanding of Legacy’s missions, vision, and values and according to standardized procedures.
  • Introduces ideas/suggestions for service improvement for the assigned area and works closely with the RDO to implement any company endorsed ideas/suggestions aligned with the organization’s intent to create excellence in therapy service delivery.

Fiscal Management

  • Attains or exceeds budgeted goals and leads all direct reports to do the same.
  • Good understanding of the reimbursement system(s) that drives revenue for assigned census and good knowledge of their regional Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) and Local Coverage Determination (LCD) Policies for Medicare.
  • Able to offer a variety of suggestions on how clinical and operational adjustments can affect revenue and expenses to meet budgeted goals and takes every appropriate available action to enhance financial performance.

Clinical Management

  • Responsible for direct patient care on an as needed basis
  • Ensures each community has active and ongoing clinical needs identification efforts and events.
  • Implements and Monitors Clinical Program Development for their assigned region. Ensures completion of staff training of clinical programs. Responsible for quality assurance in assigned region along with accountability for implementation of clinical programs.
  • Able to assess patients’ needs and develop clinical programming appropriate for the community census and to meet the customers’ expectations.
  • Partners with Rehabilitation Director to coordinate therapy personnel and community education
  • Responsible for clinical quality oversight in assigned communities. Including but not limited to documentation review, survey preparedness and clinical quality

Operational Management

  • Creates a robust therapy program aligned with LHS policies, procedures and culture.
  • Manages staffing to meet caseload benchmarks in accordance with LHS staffing model and State Therapy Practice Act(s) and is able to justify variances to the LHS staffing model with sound business rationale.
  • Participates in internal/external marketing efforts to increase and improve community census and therapy caseload: this includes networking events, community education and direct face-to-face contact with referral sources.
  • Implements LHS value added services in accordance with the company’s expectations (LiveWell, health talks, etc.) and the community’s approval.
  • Partners with Medicare Enrollment to ensure Rehab Agency compliance in assigned communities
  • Participates in assigned start-ups in region according to Legacy’s start up execution planner and Vice President of New Business Operations.

Human Resources Management

  • Key person for building team morale, employee engagement and instilling the LHS culture in all aspects of therapy service delivery.
  • Creates and maintains professional relationships and open communication with community personnel and LHS personnel at both the field and corporate levels that facilitate therapy service delivery excellence.
  • Ensures clinical mentorship programs are in place

Other

  • Understands that the position is highly influenced by the particular needs and expectations of LHS customers in assigned area and so agrees to other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics in accordance with LHS policies and procedures.

Position requirements

Qualifications/ Education

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below illustrate the knowledge, skill, and ability required.   • Preferred clinical background as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT) or Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), a therapy assistant PTA or OTA) with a bachelor’s degree in a complementary field, or a tenured LHS therapy assistant.
  • Two to three years’ experience in Long Term Care (LTC), rehab agency or outpatient setting with at least one year of supervisory or administration experience.
  • Minimum of a degree from accredited college or university or equivalent experience (i.e., degree in PT, OT, OTA, PTA, SLP).
  • Must have solid understanding and comfort with computer skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Rehab Directors and other LHS employees at assigned sites.

Licenses

Licensed and/or registered (PT, PTA, OT, OTA, SLP) in state of assigned sites.
