Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Experience

Overview
The Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Experience (Marketer II) plays an integral role in the marketing, promotions and fan experience efforts for Utah State Athletics. This position develops and implements strategic marketing plans to increase attendance and revenue while enhancing the fan experience through game scripting, production and in-game entertainment.
Responsibilities
This position will work closely with numerous departments, including revenue generation, ticket sales and operations, Aggie Sports Properties, development, creative content and digital strategy, communications, USU spirit, Aggie Marching and Pep band, and HURD student section.
- Create, coordinate and execute marketing plans and initiatives for assigned sports to increase awareness, attendance, revenue and the fan experience.
- Coordinate all game-day activities and promotions that enhance and advance Utah State traditions while serving as the liaison for the Aggie Marching Band, pep band, cheer, dance, mascot and HURD student section.
- Oversee all full- and part-time staff in the marketing and fan experience department, developing a strong student workforce to assist with game-day operations and athletics department needs.
- Develop and execute integrated storytelling campaigns in partnership with the creative content and digital strategy and communications staffs across digital channels, including email, social media and digital marketing, as well as traditional media, including radio, TV, print and outdoor advertising.
- Serve as the primary owner of athletics department email communications, working in partnership with development to ensure timely and strategic messaging.
- Create and develop promotional plans and giveaway strategies for assigned sports in partnership with the revenue generation team to maximize ticket sales, attendance, fan engagement and the fan experience.
- Serve as the in-house producer for assigned sports. Lead script writing and game production to coordinate all in-game elements, including sponsorships, promotions, music, the public address announcer, entertainment, presentations, video, band, cheer, dance and the mascot, to maximize the fan experience at all Utah State athletics events.
- Work collaboratively with all departments within USU Athletics and the campus community, including communications, creative content and digital strategy, game operations, ticket operations and development.
- Coordinate the development of promotional and marketing collateral as needed.
- Strategize, organize and coordinate campus marketing initiatives targeting faculty, staff and students to maximize support.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years’ experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated marketing, fan experience, and event production experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated revenue generational responsibilities.
- Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision, with an irregular work schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- Division I football or men’s basketball experience
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Eloqua
- Demonstrated ability in leadership and management.
- Knowledgeable of the NCAA rules and a commitment to adhere to all rules and regulations of Utah State University, the Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA.
