Responsibilities
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading procurement activities across multiple sites, ensuring timely material availability, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity. The role will drive sourcing strategies, supplier management, and procurement execution to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Source and qualify suppliers across regions (ASEAN, EU, USA, etc.).
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve cost savings.
- Drive dual sourcing and risk mitigation plans for critical materials.
- Supplier Management
- Manage supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness).
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and drive continuous improvement.
- Strengthen supplier relationships and strategic partnerships.
- Support supplier escalation and resolution of supply issues.
- Planning & Execution
- Ensure material availability to meet production schedules.
- Monitor backlog, lead times, and supply commitments.
- Coordinate closely with planning, logistics, and operations teams.
- Manage inventory levels and support excess/obsolete material control.
- Cost Management
- Drive cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE, alternate sourcing, negotiations).
- Support BOM cost analysis and pricing inputs for RFQ/customer projects.
- Monitor market trends impacting material pricing and availability.
- Team Leadership
- Lead and develop purchasing team across sites.
- Allocate resources effectively to manage workload and priorities.
- Establish KPIs and monitor team performance.
- Systems & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems effectively for procurement execution.
- Support audits, reporting, and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8–12 years of procurement experience, preferably in electronics/EMS manufacturing (PCBA/SMT).
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations and cost management.
- Experience managing regional/global suppliers.
- Strong understanding of supply chain risks and mitigation strategies.
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen.
- Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
- Leadership and team management capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible for regional travel.
- Experience handling automotive/industrial/Medical customers is an advantage.
