Gift Shop Supervisor
Job description
NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Gift Shop Supervisor to support daily operations at the historic Byodo-In Temple in Kaneohe Hawaii. This role ensures efficient store functionality, accurate cash handling, and effective merchandising and inventory practices. The supervisor serves as a key point of support to the Gift Shop Manager by maintaining operational standards across the gift shop, ticket booth, and other temple areas.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and model outstanding customer service, ensuring a positive and engaging shopping experience for all customers
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for customers, staff, and vendors
- Operate and oversee the Point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring accurate transactions and cash handling
- Open and/or close the store, including register reconciliation and daily balancing of sales
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual standards throughout each shift
- Support execution of store policies, procedures, and operational guidelines
- Receive, price, stock, and organize merchandise in accordance with company standards
- Monitor inventory levels, identify discrepancies, and report issues to management
- Assist with product ordering, shipment processing, and stock replenishment
- Create and maintain visually appealing displays to drive sales and enhance the customer experience
- Provide guidance and direction to team members during shifts to ensure efficient workflow and coverage
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
- Assist with tracking sales trends, basic reporting, and operational metrics
- Ensure accuracy in pricing, promotions, and product knowledge
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager
Qualifications

- Basic math skills and analytical abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (POS systems, Microsoft Office preferred)
- Teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods & lift up to 40lbs
- Weekend availability and flexible scheduling
Compensation Range
- $21 - $22/hr.
