Job description

The Solutions Engineer, Implementation & Adoption sits at the intersection of product, technology, and client engagement. This role owns three connected responsibilities: demonstrating BUURT to prospective clients and communities, driving feature adoption among existing VCP communities, and leading the technical onboarding of new communities - whether through new management contracts or community takeovers.

This is not a pure sales role and it is not a pure technical role. The right person speaks both languages fluently. They can walk a property manager through a live product demo, turn around and configure an onboarding environment, and then project manage a community takeover from technical kickoff to go-live.

As BUURT expands across VCP's growing portfolio, this role is the engine that ensures every new community lands successfully and every existing community gets full value from the platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Presales & Product Demonstration

  • Partner with Sales and Business Development to support prospective client engagements - attend demos, lead technical presentations, and answer product questions that go beyond what a non-technical presenter can handle.
  • Deliver compelling, tailored demonstrations of BUURT to prospective communities, property owners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Translate prospect pain points and operational requirements into clear product fit narratives - articulate what BUURT does, how it solves specific problems, and what implementation looks like.
  • Support RFP responses, proposal development, and proof-of-concept requests with technical depth and product expertise.
  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of BUURT's capabilities, roadmap, and competitive differentiation.

Feature Adoption & Engagement

  • Serve as the internal champion for BUURT adoption across existing VCP communities - identify underutilization, drive feature rollout, and resolve technical barriers to adoption.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration guides, and platform knowledge resources that equip the Implementation and Change Management Manager to translate into user-facing training and communications.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to surface friction points, triage feedback against known technical issues or platform limitations, and escalate true technical barriers for resolution before routing product insights to the Product Manager.
  • Track platform adoption and technical utilization metrics across the portfolio — monitoring feature usage, configuration completeness, and integration health — and report on progress, gaps, and escalation needs.
  • Partner with the Product Manager and Implementation and Change Management Manager to align upcoming feature releases with community readiness and adoption strategy.

Technical Implementation & Community Onboarding

  • Own the technical onboarding of new communities - whether through new management contracts or property acquisitions — coordinating the data and configuration requirements on the community's end while partnering with the Implementation and Change Management Manager to ensure all pieces are ready for a smooth go-live.
  • Develop and maintain a repeatable technical onboarding playbook that accounts for both greenfield launches and takeover scenarios, including data migration requirements, existing system dependencies, and community-side readiness criteria.
  • Manage onboarding project timelines, milestones and technical dependencies – serving as the primary point of contact for technical stakeholders and keeping the Implementation and Change Management Manager aligned on readiness status.
  • Configure BUURT environments for new communities; coordinate data migration, integrations, and user provisioning, including working with the transitions team to ensure data is properly prepared and submitted for loading.
  • Conduct go-live readiness assessments against technical and data criteria, confirming environments are fully configured and ready to head off to the Implementation and Change Management Manager for training and activation.
  • Capture lessons learned from each onboarding and continuously refine the implementation process.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary feedback loop between communities, Sales, and the Engineering/Product team - surface what is working, what is not, and what is being asked for.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Software Engineer and Product Manager to flag implementation gaps, data issues, and configuration needs that require product changes.
  • Coordinate with IT Infrastructure and Security as needed during onboarding to ensure connectivity, access, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Support the Director of Applications with portfolio-level visibility into implementation status, adoption health, and community readiness.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in a solutions/sales engineering, technical implementation, client onboarding, or product specialist role.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver product demonstrations to non-technical audiences - you can make software feel intuitive and compelling, not intimidating.
  • Experience managing technical onboarding or implementation projects, including data migration, configuration, and user training.
  • Strong project management skills - you can run multiple onboarding workstreams simultaneously without things falling through the cracks.
  • Ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders; equally comfortable in a product demo and a project status call.
  • Experience with change management and driving software adoption - you understand that a feature is not live until people are actually using it.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; polished and confident in client-facing settings.

Preferred

  • Experience with property management software, PropTech platforms, or community management technology.
  • Familiarity with SaaS implementation methodologies and onboarding best practices.
  • Experience supporting presales or sales engineering in a B2B environment.
  • Exposure to data migration processes - mapping, transformation, validation, and cutover.
  • Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth organization managing rapid portfolio expansion.
  • Basic technical fluency - comfortable reading configuration files, understanding API concepts, and troubleshooting without requiring engineering escalation for every issue.

SUCCESS MEASURES

Performance in this role may be evaluated using the following measures:

  • Community onboarding success rate - new communities reaching go-live on time and fully operational.
  • Time-to-go-live - average duration from signed contract or acquisition close to community launch.
  • Feature adoption rate - percentage of existing communities actively using current BUURT capabilities.
  • Demo-to-conversion support - technical win rate on opportunities where this role participated in presales.
  • Onboarding quality - post-launch defects, support escalations, and community satisfaction scores.
  • Playbook maturity - repeatable, documented onboarding process in place and continuously improved.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction - feedback from community managers, Sales, and Product on collaboration effectiveness.
  • Feedback loop quality - volume and quality of product and implementation insights surfaced to Engineering and Product.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. regularly and up to 40–50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., computer equipment).
  • Mobility: Ability to move throughout office areas and occasionally access equipment in cabinets, under desks, or in network/IT rooms.

  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for keyboarding, connecting cables, handling small components, and general device setup.
