Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Specialist Patient Access, you will serve as a crucial first point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless and empathetic experience while accurately facilitating their entry into our healthcare system.
Every day you will manage patient appointments, verify insurance information, accurately register patient demographics, and provide clear financial counseling regarding services. You'll communicate effectively with patients and clinical teams, resolve access-related issues, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies. Responsibilities include utilizing various patient management systems, maintaining data integrity, and contributing to improving patient access workflows.
To succeed, you'll need exceptional customer service skills, strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and financial verification, excellent communication for clear patient and team interactions, and a profound commitment to patient advocacy, data accuracy, and optimizing the patient journey.
- In a contact center environment, handle a high volume of inbound calls supporting patients, providers, clinics through patient registration, appointment scheduling, cancellation and rescheduling. The PSR supports many providers and specialties, utilizing… utilizing electronic appointment management systems and electronic health records.
- Determine appointment type and urgency using department guidelines, clinical decision trees, and independent judgment within scope of training.
- Collect and update complete and accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service
- Communicate complex exam preparation instructions, pre-procedure requirements, and laboratory prerequisites to patients and referring providers.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment, such as a medical office, patient access, or contact center setting
- Experience with computer systems, including webbased applications and electronic health records (EHRs)
Preferred
- Experience in a patient-facing or patient access environment
- Experience in a high-volume, multi-channel contact center or referral/authorization workflow
