Job description
Job Summary Provide and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses according to prescriptions and precise measurements. Advise clients on lens options, frame selection and eyewear care while ensuring accurate fabrication and adjustments. Number of Positions 4 Main Duties Interpret eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions and take precise measurements such as pupillary distance and segment height. Select, fit and adjust frames and lenses to ensure comfort, visual acuity and proper alignment. Use optical instruments (lensometer, PD meter, pupilometer) and inspect finished lenses for quality and accuracy. Order and manage inventory of frames, lenses and optical supplies, and coordinate work with external labs for lens fabrication. Repair, alter and maintain eyewear, including frame adjustments, replacing nose pads and re-tempering frames. Maintain client records, process transactions, provide aftercare instructions, and schedule follow-up appointments as needed. Requirements Completion of a recognized opticianry diploma or certificate program, or equivalent practical experience in optical dispensing. One to three years of experience in dispensing eyewear, optical retail, or a clinical optical environment. Proficiency with optical instruments and basic laboratory procedures for lens verification and measurement. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with clear verbal communication and patient counselling ability. Good numeracy, attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise measurements and frame adjustments. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and order processing, and the ability to stand for extended periods.
