Job description
Job Summary Operate cranes to lift, move and place materials safely on construction and industrial sites. Perform equipment inspections and coordinate with rigging crews to ensure efficient lifting operations. Number of Positions 3 Main Duties Operate tower, mobile, or overhead cranes to hoist, lower and position materials according to lift plans and load charts. Perform pre-operational inspections, routine maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel. Interpret load charts, rigging plans and basic technical drawings to determine rigging and lifting requirements. Communicate with riggers, signal persons and site supervisors to coordinate lifts and maintain site safety. Set up and secure crane components, outriggers and hoisting equipment following manufacturer guidelines and site procedures. Document lift activities, complete required logs and report incidents or near-misses promptly. Requirements Secondary school diploma or equivalent education. Previous experience operating tower, mobile or overhead cranes in construction or industrial environments. Certification in crane operation where required by jurisdiction or completion of a recognized crane training program. Ability to read and interpret load charts, rigging plans and basic technical drawings. Working knowledge of workplace safety practices, signaling procedures and fall protection requirements. Physical ability to perform duties, work at heights, and communicate effectively with crew members. Required Skills Proficient crane operation and load handling techniques. Ability to read and apply load charts and rigging instructions. Strong verbal communication and hand-signaling skills. Attention to detail and strong situational awareness. Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues. Teamwork and coordination with riggers, supervisors and safety personnel.
