Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions..

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

  • Team with others to set-up, operate and inspect parts on, conventionaland Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines and mediums toassure the timely production and delivery of quality products to thecustomer.
  • Work from drawings, documents, process specifications, qualitycontrol requirements, and established processes or procedures.
  • Performmulti-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable.
  • Produce parts or assemblies using Conventional or ComputerizedNumerical Controlled (CNC) mediums, while simultaneously ensuringproduct and/or process quality at all levels of the manufacturingoperation through monitoring/verification methodologies.
  • Concurrently perform related functions to provide complete hardwarein accordance with engineering specifications including,(e.g., operatingmultiple machines simultaneously, deburr part surface, milling,drilling, boring, honing, grinding, fastening).
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their dailywork duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard lightbulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels,etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
  • Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area,including across isle, using shop assigned equipment as required, andcomplete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation.
  • On an exception basis, moves product to the next operation within abuilding.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturingprocess by training and assisting employees of the same or lowerclassification level.
  • Cross trains in inspection and becomes SIA qualified.Level C1.
  • Setup and operate Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) andConventional equipment of medium complexity.
  • Activities include, e.g.robotic processes, drill presses, routers, shapers,ultrasonic/laser/water cutting equipment, etc.
  • Performs basic verification of dimensions of parts using bothmechanical and electronic precision measurement tools.

All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks. Majority of new hires will be hired on 2nd shift.
