Position Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Plant Maintenance Technician III, where your advanced skills in mechanical and electrical disciplines will make a significant impact. You will demonstrate leadership by taking ownership of complex repairs, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement. You will work independently with minimal supervision while supporting and improving key metrics: Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Continuous Improvement.
Responsibilities
Safety
- Follow all prescribed Health, Safety, and Environmental laws, rules, and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures.
- Complete all required safety and regulatory training in a timely manner.
- Survey job sites to identify potential hazards and countermeasures before starting work.
- Audit lock out tag outs to ensure equipment is safe prior to work.
Equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical/equipment breakdowns. Act as the primary mechanic for complex repairs.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and work orders while clarifying concepts and training new colleagues.
- Disassemble and install new machines, condition monitoring sensors, and other equipment.
- Recommend equipment changes to improve safety, quality, and uptime, vetting changes through engineering and updating documentation.
- Lead the installation, assembly, and testing of machines and equipment.
- Use a variety of tools to complete repairs, installations, adjustments, and part replacements.
- Work from established procedures and/or verbal instructions. Preventative Maintenance:
- Lead routine preventive maintenance in accordance with specified tasks and procedures.
- Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions (visual and sound inspections).
- Take and record measurements for trend analysis and enter data into the CMMS.
- Evaluate PM procedures and suggest improvements.
Daily
- Work effectively with other team members in a high-speed 24/7 environment.
- Complete records of work performed in the CMMS system.
- Interface positively and professionally with all levels of team members.
- Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly condition according to Visual Management and 5S standards.
- Escalate issues affecting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Respond urgently to service calls to maximize equipment efficiency.
- Use proper tools for each task.
- Other duties as assigned due to business needs.
We we are looking for
- Must have a H.S. diploma/GED or an educational equivalent and an appropriate mix of training, education and experience with progressive employment experience in Mechanical Maintenance.
- Further Certificates of skill (Welding, Rigging, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Bearings) and 5+ years of work-related experience in a manufacturing environment. OR 7+ years of work-related experienc e if no certifications exist.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work independently on complex jobs.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision or engineering guidance.
- Electrical aptitude with switches, photo-eyes, cameras, PLCs, ladder logic, VFDs, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to support multiple plant departments.
- Fluent English (speak, read, write).
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to continuously learn about maintenance and equipment.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to mentor, train, lead, and communicate effectively with operators, team leads, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Clear communication skills for troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
- Ability to suggest changes to procedures and drawings, including part substitutions.
- Ability to document work in CMMS.
- Ability to coordinate with planners on job plan creation and improvement.
