Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and performing laboratory tests.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and filtration systems.
  • Monitor control panels and adjust valves to regulate the flow of sewage
  • Monitoring and Testing: Collect and analyze wastewater samples to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and maintain accurate records of analyses and test results
  • Ensure that the treatment processes meet the environmental regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes and regulations affecting wastewater treatment
  • Identify and repair system failures, perform minor repairs, and assist in the maintenance of plant facilities. This includes cleaning equipment and disposing of waste by products
  • Work closely with other operators and maintenance staff, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication within the team performing laboratory tests

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Valid wastewater treatment operator license preferred, Program may provide additional training, and candidate must pass Navy Level 1 operator exam or equivalent training.
  • Must be able to read write and speck English, including receiving direction in English. Experience:
  • Five (5) years of experience in RO/Nanofiltration system and components
  • Operators must have five (5) years as lead operator responsible for seawater Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment operation, and maintenance practices is essential.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods Physical Requirements:
  • The job may involve lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and performing tasks in various weather conditions Working Conditions:
  • Wastewater treatment plant operators typically work in a facility environment, which may include exposure to hazardous materials and unpleasant odors.
  • Shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required to ensure continuous plant operation.
