What You'll Be Doing
Wake County Public Libraries is looking for part-time Library Assistants for four of our library locations!

- Work on a public service desk to answer questions, check books out, and issue library cards
- Help patrons with informational and reading needs
- Assist Library Manager with library operational duties
- Assist Librarians with program set-up and/or program delivery
- Assist with making creative book displays
Current opportunities are at the following locations (you will be given an opportunity to express location preferences during the application process): Community Libraries Wendell Community Library* 207 S. Hollybrook Road Wendell, NC 27591
Schedule: 20 hours each week, one weekend a month (Saturday and Sunday), at least 1-2 night shifts each week

Schedule: Alternating Weeks Sunday 12:05-5:05 Tuesday 4:05-9:05 Wednesday 4:05-9:05 Thursday 12:00-5:00
Tuesday 5:05-9:05 Wednesday 5:05-9:05 Thursday 1:00-5:00 Saturday rotates 8:00-5:00 and 9:05-6:05
Northeast Regional Library 14401 Green Elm Lane Raleigh, NC 27614
Schedule: M: 4-9 T: 4-9 W: 9-2 TH: Off F: Off
And every other weekend, Sat: 1-6 Sun: 12-5

The person selected for this position must undergo a successful criminal background check and education verification, as well as submit fingerprints to the State Bureau of Investigation for a secondary criminal history record check.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Associate's degree
- No specific experience required
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Public Library experience working on a service desk
- Customer Service/Bookstore experience
- Experience working directly with children, for some locations
- For some locations, Spanish-language skills desired
