Clerk Grade: 11/12 Employment Type: Temporary – 12 months opportunity Base salary: $154,231 - $178,369 + superannuation Location: Sydney or Gosford (hybrid work available)

An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen in NSW Fair Trading for a Manager Information Management, within the Governance, Assurance and Performance Branch.

About the Role As Manager, Information Management, you will lead the NSW Fair Trading team responsible for:

  • GIPA (information access)
  • Privacy and records management
  • Internal review decisions (under the Administrative Decisions Review Act).

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will maintain a deep understanding of all functions and step in when required to ensure quality, compliance and delivery. You will provide trusted, practical advice to senior leaders on navigating regulatory obligations, including in complex, sensitive and high-risk matters. You will translate complex legislative requirements into clear, operational practices, designing and embedding policies, procedures and guidance to support consistent and compliant delivery.

About the Team The Information Management team enables Fair Trading to operate confidently, responsibly and with impact. The team partners with executives and business units across right to information, privacy, records and reviewable decisions. You will lead a high-performing team of specialists, building capability and strengthening delivery confidence across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Lead the team to deliver high-quality outcomes on complex, sensitive and non-routine matters
  • Manage all statutory obligations across GIPA, privacy, records and reviewable decisions, including making determinations and internal review decisions
  • Oversee privacy breaches and risk assessments, and lead incident and escalation frameworks to proactively manage compliance risks
  • Drive continuous improvement, using insights and data to strengthen systems, capability and operational maturity

About You You are a subject matter expert in information management with strong leadership capability. You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience applying GIPA, privacy and records legislation
  • Strong judgement and the ability to navigate complexity and competing priorities
  • Credibility with senior leaders and the ability to provide clear, practical advice
  • You know when to hold the line and when to help the business find pragmatic solutions.
  • As a leader, you build capability, confidence and critical thinking in your team, and operate with integrity and calm judgement under pressure.
  • You believe information management should enable better outcomes, not slow them down, and you know how to make that real.

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $154 231 base plus superannuation
