OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE
The Country Manager is responsible for leadership and overseeing all business operations for the subsidiary. This role plays a crucial part in guiding the organisation's direction and ensuring its success and sustainability.
Directs the implementation of business plans for Insurance business with the objective of increasing revenue and
profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND EXECUTION
- Formulate and execute comprehensive strategic plans that align with the group's vision and mission. This includes identifying market opportunities, setting long-term goals, and creating actionable roadmaps for the Insurance entity.
- Regularly review and assess the effectiveness of strategic plans, making necessary adjustments based on market trends, competitive landscape, and business performance.
- Ensure that the organisation's vision and mission are consistently reflected in strategic objectives, fostering a unified direction and purpose across the organization.
- Lead periodic strategic reviews to evaluate progress, address challenges, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of Insurance entity, ensuring that all processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with business objectives.
- Manage resources, including staff finances, and technology, to support the business's operational needs and growth initiatives.
- Identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that all operations adhere to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, maintaining a high standard of operational integrity.
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Insurance entity clients, understanding their financial needs and providing tailored advisory services.
- Hold regular meetings with clients to discuss their financial goals, investment strategies, and portfolio performance, ensuring clear communication and client satisfaction.
- Spearhead implementation of ecosystem solutions within Insurance entity in collaboration with other Subsidiaries, ensuring integrated customer value propositions across all entities.
FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT
- Manage the organisation's financial performance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to ensure financial health and growth.
- Develop, manage, and oversee the organisation's budget, ensuring effective allocation of financial resources in line with strategic priorities.
- Ensure that the organisation meets its financial targets and maintains sustainable growth, implementing corrective actions as needed to address financial challenges.
- Manage and maintain robust financial controls and risk management practices to safeguard the organisation's assets and ensure financial integrity.
COMPLIANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT
- Ensure that the organisation adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, conducting regular audits and compliance checks.
- Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities by conducting thorough risk assessments.
- Implement risk management policies and procedures to address identified risks.
- Foster a culture of compliance and risk awareness within the organization, to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT
- Lead and inspire the organisation's staff, setting a positive example and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Establish clear performance expectations for employees, providing regular feedback and guidance to support their professional growth and development.
- Identify training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees, ensuring they remain competitive and capable of delivering high-quality services.
LEAD GENERATION
- Seek out and pursue new business opportunities to expand the organisation's client base and service offerings, conducting market research and identifying potential partnerships.
- Create and execute strategies for business growth, to achieve the organisation's revenue and market share targets.
- Implement initiatives to attract and retain clients, leveraging traditional, digital, and social tools to reach new audiences and build brand awareness.
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance the organisation's service offerings and market presence.
BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND REPORTING
- Ensure the compilation of and present comprehensive reports on the organisation's performance, strategic initiatives, and financial health to stakeholders, including the Board of directors and investors.
- Analyse key performance metrics and other relevant data to make informed, data-driven decisions that support the organisation's strategic goals.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the organisation's progress, addressing any concerns and highlighting achievements.
- Use data analysis to support strategic objectives, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a cooperative and transparent relationship.
- Collaborate with banks, vendors, and other financial institutions to access funding, credit facilities, and other financial services that support the organisation's operations and growth.
- Participate in industry associations and events to stay updated on market trends, best practices, and networking opportunities.
- Handle media relations and public communications to maintain the organisation's reputation and public image, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Commerce in Insurance & Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or any management function
- Masters' degree beneficial but not essential
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- IISA/CII Diploma or better is essential
- RE1 & RE3 regulatory exam qualifications
MINIMUM YEARS/LEVEL OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- 10-15 years working in the insurance sector.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a Managerial role within Insurance market
PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL
The Country Manager is very psychologically demanding role.
