Medical Receptionist, Specialist, Paarl, Cape Town – REF# IMR038-MR
Job description
A specialist medical practice in Paarl, Cape Town is seeking to recruit an experienced Medical Receptionist. The successful candidate will be professional, organised, and patient-focused, with the ability to manage a busy reception environment while ensuring exceptional patient service and efficient administrative support.
Roles and Responsibilities (but not limited to)
- Welcome and assist patients, visitors, and service providers in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer incoming calls and direct enquiries appropriately
- Manage appointment scheduling and diary coordination
- Confirm appointments and communicate schedule changes to patients
- Maintain accurate patient records and update patient information as required
- Scan and upload patient documentation, authorisations, referrals, and laboratory results
- Prepare patient files and documentation for upcoming consultations
- Assist patients with queries and provide general practice information
- Process patient payments and issue receipts
- Capture and maintain patient account information accurately
- Assist with medical aid and billing-related administration
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails
- Prepare documentation, labels, and administrative requirements for daily consultations
- Maintain stock levels of office and clinical supplies and assist with ordering when required
- Ensure the reception area remains professional, welcoming, and organised
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, medical, and financial information
- Assist with general administrative and practice support duties
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a medical receptionist position
- Knowledge and understanding of medical aid billing, coding, and medical terminology
- Experience working with electronic medical record systems advantageous
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (verbal and written)
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
