Job Title: Lead Maintenance Technician Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Manager Effective Date: July 11, 2024

Job type: Full Time Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician oversees the upkeep and repair of the facility and its surrounding grounds, including all equipment and machinery. This role involves conducting regular inspections, performing preventative maintenance, making necessary repairs, and documenting all activities. The Lead Maintenance Technician ensures the facility remains safe and clean, assists with safety training, drills, safety walk-throughs, and visual inspections, and supports janitorial functions both inside and outside the facility as needed. Additionally, this position supervises the maintenance team, coordinates work schedules, and ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols by the maintenance team.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain the facility and all the equipment within it.
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting on machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Keep detailed records of all repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety norms, OSHA regulations, and state laws.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely repair of equipment and systems within the facility.
  • Work with property owners and outside contractors to maintain and repair grounds and building equipment, including HVAC systems, overhead doors, dock plates, and all electrical and plumbing fixtures.
  • Assist with or perform all necessary janitorial tasks.
  • Monitor the inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with textile machinery, warehouse equipment and electrical.
  • Understanding of industry safety norms and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Proficient in record-keeping for documenting repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple departments and external contractors.
  • Basic understanding of janitorial tasks and inventory management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have experience with electrical diagnostics, specifically data troubleshooting, PLCs, and drivers, particularly in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical controls, and machine communications is required.
  • Leadership skills and experience in supervising a maintenance team.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Completion of vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work in various physical positions, including standing, kneeling, and crouching, for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in indoor and potentially outdoor environments, subject to weather conditions.
