Job description

At Gore Mutual, we’ve always set ourselves apart as a modern mutual that does good. Now, we’re proudly building on that legacy to transform our company—and our industry—for the better.

Effective January 1, 2026, Gore has joined Beneva—the country’s largest mutual insurance company—as part of its Property & Casualty operations in Ontario and Western Canada. During 2026, Gore will combine its operations with Unica Insurance, Beneva’s Ontario-based subsidiary specializing in niche commercial and personal insurance, creating a stronger, more diversified mutual insurer with greater scale and long-term stability.

Every decision and investment remains anchored in long-term benefits to customers, members, and communities. Come join us.

The Vice President People Experience provides strategic and operational leadership across the People Experience function, ensuring people strategies, programs, and practices enable business success and an exceptional employee experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to help lead the next phase of integration between Gore Insurance Company, Unica Insurance, and Beneva. As part of a growing, purpose-driven mutual insurer, you will play a key role in shaping how teams, leaders, and employees come together to support a unified vision for the future while preserving the strengths and heritage of each organization.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer this role serves as a trusted advisor on talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness while leading a multi-disciplinary HR team responsible for HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Total Rewards, and HR Policy.

As Gore and Unica continue their integration under the Beneva brand, the Vice President will help align people strategies, strengthen organizational capability, and support employees through a period of meaningful growth and transformation. The combined organization brings greater scale, financial strength, and opportunities for continued investment in people, technology, and customer experience.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a People Experience team of 15+ employees across HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and Total Rewards.
  • Develop and execute people strategies that support organizational priorities and business objectives.
  • Partner with executives, people leaders, and the Board of Directors on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and talent strategy.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage people analytics and insights to support informed decision-making and measure organizational outcomes.
  • Ensure HR programs, policies, and practices are aligned, effective, and scalable.

Integration & Transformation Responsibilities

As part of the ongoing integration of Gore, Unica, and Beneva, this role will:

  • Partner with executive leaders and integration workstreams to support integration priorities and business outcomes.
  • Assist in the support and recommendation to harmonize HR processes, programs, and systems across the organization.
  • Build leadership capability and readiness for change.
  • Champion an employee experience that maintains engagement, trust, and performance during periods of transformation.
  • Help shape a unified culture that reflects Beneva's people-first values while leveraging the strengths of both Gore and Unica.

Why Join Us

Joining Gore at this stage offers the opportunity to contribute to the integration of two respected Ontario insurers within Canada's largest mutual insurer. Together, Gore, Unica, and Beneva are building a stronger and more diversified organization focused on long-term growth, innovation, and a people-first culture.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including leading multiple HR functions and teams.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute people strategies that support business objectives, organizational effectiveness, and growth.
  • Experience advising senior executives and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Boards of Directors.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change, business transformation, or integration initiatives; M&A experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations, talent management, and workforce planning.
  • Experience leveraging HR technology, people analytics, and data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
