Mednet
Product Design Lead
Job description
About Mednet
Mednet is a free, physician-only community built to answer the complex clinical questions that define everyday practice. While most clinical support tools retrieve and summarize the same widely-available resources, Mednet surfaces the judgment, experience, and pattern recognition of leading experts. Our goal is simple: to give every physician access to the collective wisdom of medicine, no matter where they practice.
Job Description
In this role, you'll lead the end-to-end design process and shape what design culture and craft look like at Mednet from the ground up.
You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with product leadership, engineers, medical experts, and founders — digging into complex, high-stakes user needs and turning them into product experiences that feel simple, elegant, and effortless to use.
You'll set the bar for design quality, build our design system from scratch, and make sure usability, accessibility, and trust are baked into everything we ship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX Design: Own the user experience for our core products, from research and discovery through wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and handoff to engineering.
- Build Design Foundations: Develop and maintain our design system, UI libraries, and UX guidelines to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Conduct Research: Plan and run user research, interviews, usability tests, and gather insights from medical professionals to inform product decisions.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, engineering, and subject matter experts to define user problems, explore solutions, and deliver best-in-class interfaces.
- Champion the User: Advocate for the needs of clinicians and other healthcare users, balancing usability with clinical accuracy, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Shape Design Culture: Help recruit, mentor, and grow the future design team as we scale.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, ideally with experience in complex or highly regulated domains (healthcare, medical devices, or B2C product is a plus).
- Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design processes, problem-solving, and elegant solutions for complex workflows.
- Hands-on experience conducting user research and usability testing.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to translate complex ideas for diverse audiences.
- Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build from zero.
- Passion for improving healthcare and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with designing for medical contexts.
