About the Team The Adjacent Offline Payments Business Team plays a critical role in helping merchants grow and manage their businesses using simple, scalable, and data-driven payment solutions. The team focuses on expanding Paytm's merchant ecosystem through innovative payment acceptance products while driving merchant engagement, activation, and transaction growth.

About the Role As an Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Adjacent Offline Payments Business, you will be responsible for driving business growth across your assigned territory by leading field sales teams and expanding merchant acquisition and engagement activities. You will drive sales across EDC Machines, Soundbox, Payment Gateway, EMI (Bank & Brand Activations), and Merchant Loans, while strengthening merchant relationships and ensuring sustainable growth in transaction volumes. This role demands a strong blend of leadership, execution excellence, merchant relationship management, and strategic thinking to scale business across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management Recruit, onboard, and develop high-performing sales teams. Lead, inspire, and motivate a team of Sales Executives, Team Leads, and field personnel. Foster a high-performance and result-oriented sales culture. Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews. Identify skill gaps and provide continuous development opportunities. Build strong succession pipelines and improve team productivity.
  • Market Expansion Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory. Drive merchant acquisition for EDC/POS terminals and other payment solutions. Expand Paytm's merchant network across target segments and geographies. Develop market penetration strategies to maximize business growth.
  • Merchant Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants. Understand merchant requirements and recommend suitable payment solutions. Ensure high levels of merchant satisfaction and retention. Drive regular merchant engagement and activation initiatives.
  • Sales Target Achievement Consistently achieve and exceed sales targets across: EDC/POS Deployments Daily Merchant Activations Soundbox Installations EMI Transactions Merchant Loan Distribution Device-Level Revenue Generation Drive transaction volume growth across the merchant portfolio.
  • Product Expertise Develop deep expertise across: EDC/POS Machines Payment Gateway Solutions Soundbox Devices EMI Solutions Merchant Lending Products Stay updated with industry trends and competitor offerings. Act as a trusted advisor and problem solver for merchants.
  • Sales Cycle Management Manage the complete sales lifecycle: Lead Generation Prospecting Qualification Solution Presentation Negotiation Deal Closure Ensure seamless onboarding and activation of merchants.
  • Market Intelligence Track competitor activities and market developments. Gather merchant feedback and customer insights. Share actionable recommendations with Growth and Business teams. Help refine go-to-market strategies based on field insights.
  • Reporting & Business Reviews Deliver accurate sales forecasts and business reports. Own monthly planning and target delivery aligned with AOP. Monitor inventory utilization and aging. Review sales incentives and payout structures. Track: FSE Productivity Check-ins Activations Revenue Performance Conduct weekly and monthly business reviews with Team Leads and Sales Executives. Ensure effective communication and execution of: Training Programs Sales Schemes Incentives EMI Brand Activations
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with: Sales Excellence Growth Teams Sales Operations Merchant Support Product Teams Ensure seamless merchant onboarding and service delivery.
  • Field Leadership & Ownership Operate with a 75% Field and 25% Office engagement model. Conduct regular field visits and market reviews. Drive daily sales huddles and gate meetings. Ensure field discipline, compliance, and execution excellence. Take complete ownership of merchant portfolio growth and field productivity.

What We're Looking For 7+ years of leadership experience in: EDC/POS Sales Fintech Financial Services Insurance Sales FMCD Distribution Proven experience in building and scaling sales teams. Strong expertise in field sales and distribution management. Ability to set, track, and achieve aggressive business targets. Experience conducting daily, weekly, and monthly sales reviews. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify opportunities to improve customer engagement. Experience managing large territories and multi-location operations. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills. High ownership mindset with strong execution capabilities.

Education Graduation or Post-Graduation (10+2+3 Mandatory)
