Crescent City Physicians, Inc., a member of LCMC Health , is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our growing cardiovascular team. As a Cardiothoracic Surgeon, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and management of patients with complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular conditions. Your Everyday

Patient Care

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and surgically treat patients with cardiac and thoracic diseases and disorders.
  • Perform a broad range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures in accordance with evidence-based standards of care.
  • Conduct pre-operative consultations and post-operative follow-up care.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
  • Coordinate care with cardiologists, pulmonologists, intensivists, advanced practice providers, and other specialists.
  • Respond to patient calls, messages, and urgent clinical needs in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation and clinical records.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and critical patient situations.
  • Identify and report concerns related to abuse, neglect, or patient safety according to organizational policies.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Provide consultation and medical supervision to clinical staff as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care coordination efforts.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and care teams to drive quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Support organizational initiatives related to safety, quality improvement, and clinical excellence.

Patient Access

  • Participate in an equitable physician call schedule.
  • Maintain timely patient access through appropriate clinic and procedural scheduling.
  • Support efficient patient throughput and continuity of care.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to hospital policies regarding patient safety and infection control.
  • Maintain a safe and professional clinical environment.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and participate in process improvement initiatives.

Medical Director Responsibilities (If Applicable)

  • Promote provider compliance with patient care and access standards.
  • Collaborate with administration regarding provider concerns, operational initiatives, and clinical improvements.
  • Participate in provider evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Assist with provider scheduling, work assignments, and call coverage planning.

Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

Experience

  • Successful completion of an accredited General Surgery Residency.
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.
  • Demonstrated experience in adult cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, or both preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Physician Licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (or eligibility for Louisiana licensure).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
