About the Role

We are scaling fast, and the calibre of our engineering and research talent is fundamental to that growth. We are looking for a Technical Sourcer who genuinely loves finding the hidden gems the people who are not on the open market and are rarely looking. At Future Secure AI you will be building pipelines of specialist technical talent across machine learning, data science, platform engineering, software infrastructure and data engineering. Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition APAC and based in Sydney, you will operate at the very top of the funnel identifying and engaging engineers, scientists and technical specialists before anyone else finds them.

Technical sourcing at FSAI is a genuine craft. You will partner closely with engineering and hiring managers across multiple teams to deeply understand technical requirements, translate them into precise sourcing strategies and engage the best passive candidates with outreach that is credible and technically literate. You are comfortable interpreting a GitHub profile or a research publication, you understand the distinctions between the roles you source for, and you know where the best technical talent gathers.

Key Responsibilities

Your focus will evolve as the function grows. Initial areas of ownership include:

Technical Sourcing and Pipeline Generation

  • Source specialist talent: identify and engage senior engineers, researchers and technical specialists across machine learning, software, infrastructure and data.
  • Advanced search: use boolean and x-ray search across LinkedIn, GitHub, Stack Overflow, research communities and conference networks to reach passive talent that competitors miss.
  • Build technical pipelines: develop and maintain talent pools for hard-to-fill and recurring technical roles, so hiring stays ahead of demand.

Technical Calibration and Engagement

  • Partner on the brief: work with engineering and research hiring managers to understand technical requirements in depth and calibrate on what a strong candidate looks like.
  • Credible outreach: craft personalised, technically literate outreach that earns responses from highly sought-after engineers and scientists.
  • Assess and qualify: run initial conversations to gauge motivation, confirm high-level technical fit against the brief, and keep strong candidates engaged.

Market Insight and Talent Mapping

  • Map the market: research and map talent across competitor AI labs, leading engineering organisations and research institutions.
  • Read the signals: interpret technical signals such as open-source contributions, publications, conference involvement and technical writing to identify high-calibre candidates.
  • Share intelligence: provide recruiters and hiring managers with insight on talent availability, compensation benchmarks and emerging skill areas.

Collaboration and Process

  • Partner with the TA team: work closely with recruiters and the Head of Talent Acquisition to prioritise searches and sequence effort.
  • Keep things moving: manage your pipeline with discipline, keeping records accurate and handovers smooth.

Data and Tools

  • Use the tools well: get the most from LinkedIn Recruiter, the ATS (Greenhouse) and specialist sourcing tools.
  • Track and refine: maintain clean data on outreach and conversion, and use it to sharpen your search strategy over time.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate whose disposition and approach align with the demands of sourcing specialist technical talent in a high-growth AI environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • Technical Sourcing Craft: a proven aptitude for finding and engaging specialist technical talent, including senior engineers and researchers who are rarely active on the open market.
  • Technical Literacy: a sound understanding of technical concepts, common technology stacks and the distinctions between technical roles, sufficient to source accurately and engage candidates credibly.
  • Strong Research and Critical Thinking: the capacity to approach each search methodically, interpret technical signals, and reach sound conclusions about where the right talent is likely to be found.
  • Persistence and Drive: a proactive orientation toward your pipeline. You take ownership of your searches and pursue difficult roles with determination and resilience.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: the ability to operate effectively in an environment where not all processes are defined. You are resourceful and capable of establishing structure where it does not yet exist.
  • Excellent Communication: the ability to craft clear, professional and technically credible outreach that generates engagement, adapting your approach to suit the audience and the situation.
  • Genuine Interest in AI: a real curiosity about artificial intelligence and the technical work underway at FSAI, and a desire to deepen your understanding of the field.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in sourcing or recruitment, with a focus on technical or engineering roles
  • Demonstrated ability to source and engage passive, specialist technical candidates through proactive, direct sourcing
  • Proficiency with advanced sourcing techniques, including boolean and x-ray search across platforms such as LinkedIn, GitHub and Stack Overflow
  • Sufficient technical literacy to interpret technical briefs, profiles and signals, and to engage technical candidates credibly
  • Ability to manage multiple technical searches and competing priorities with strong organisational discipline
  • Excellent written communication, with a track record of outreach that earns responses from in-demand talent

Preferred

  • Experience sourcing for machine learning, research, infrastructure or data roles
  • Familiarity with the AI or deep technology talent market
  • Experience interpreting technical signals such as open-source contributions, publications or conference involvement
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter and an ATS such as Greenhouse
  • A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and its practical applications
