Clinical Nurse Specialist Anaesthetics
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our anaesthetic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled nurse to contribute to our operating theatre services, providing expert care to patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Anaesthetics, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anaesthetic services. You will act as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for your colleagues, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and upholding the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced clinical care and assessment to patients requiring anaesthesia, across a range of surgical specialities.
- Assist Anaesthetists with the administration and monitoring of anaesthesia.
- Manage patient airways, ensure adequate ventilation, and monitor haemodynamic stability.
- Act as a resource and mentor for junior nursing team members, facilitating their professional development.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures related to anaesthetic nursing.
- Contribute to risk management and quality improvement activities within the operating theatre.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant professional, ethical, and legal standards.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Postgraduate qualification in Anaesthetic Nursing or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist in anaesthetic nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria
- Participation in relevant professional organisations.
- Experience in clinical education or preceptorship.
