Job description

We are offering a fully funded project manager position starting September or October 2026.

The project is focused on understanding the immunobiology of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC), an inflammatory intestinal disease of premature infants. The goal is to perform detailed phenotyping and sequencing of immune cells from resected tissue in order to gain insight into the disease process and etiology. The position will be in close collaboration with Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen and Odense University Hospital.

You will join a dynamic and international team that utilizes in vivo mouse work and human clinical samples to understand the development of immune cells and their importance in various diseases, such as cancer and inflammation. Technically, our work is heavily focused on flow cytometry andsingle-cell RNA-sequencing and as a successful candidate you are expected to be an expert in both. The team has a strong ethos of direct collaboration and you will be often asked to help with and be involved in other projects as a result of helping your colleagues.

The group is part of the Section for Experimental and Translation Immunology at the Department of Health Technology. Our section has all the necessary infrastructure and comprises of diverse teams with multiple technical and theoretical expertise.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Necessary qualifications

  • You must have a PhD degree and previous senior research experience, such as a postdoctoral position
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience through publications with multi-parametric flow cytometry and single-cell RNA-sequencing
  • Experience with isolation and culture of immune cells from human and mouse tissues
  • Experience with mucosal gut immunology
  • Basic skills in molecular biology and biochemistry
  • Analytical skills including analysis of multi-parametric flow cytometry and single-cell RNA-sequencing and experience with R
  • Experience with mouse models and possession of a FELASA B certificate

Applicable responsibilities

  • You are expected to be able to organize and coordinate execution of experiments, and critically analyse data
  • You will be coordinating tissue procurement with Rigshospitalet and Odense University Hospital
  • You will have to present in lab and section meetings frequently
  • You will have frequent meetings with the group leader
  • You are expected to teach relevant lab skills to students and other trainees
  • You are expected to also be part of larger experiments not in direct association with this project

Salary and appointment terms The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as Senior Officer.

The position is full time, and the period of employment is 2 years.
