In this role, you will combine mechanical design and hands-on manufacturing, taking ownership of precision mechanical solutions from concept and CAD design through prototyping, testing, and production. Main responsibilities
- Design precision mechanical components and assemblies for cryogenic measurement systems using modern CAD tools
- Manufacture prototypes and small-series precision components using CNC and/or manual machining methods
- Develop solutions optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and performance at ultra-low temperatures
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and materials engineering
- Participate in rapid design iterations, testing activities, and continuous product improvement
- Manage technical documentation and product data using PLM systems
- Support the transition of new products and technologies from development into production
- Contribute to customer projects and technology development initiatives with leading quantum computing companies and research institutions worldwide
What we expect from you
- Several years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, precision manufacturing, or a similar high-technology environment
- Strong competence in at least two of the following areas:
- CNC machining, including CAM workflows and toolpath programming
- CAD-based mechanical design
- Manual machining and workshop-based prototyping
- Experience manufacturing precision components with tight tolerances
- Degree or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Machining, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Understanding of design for manufacturability, tolerancing, and material selection
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
We also appreciate
- Experience with Fehlmann CNC machines, especially the Picomax series
- Experience with PLM systems such as Windchill
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies
- Experience with sub-millimeter precision components and assemblies
- Familiarity with cryogenic applications and advanced engineering materials
- Experience with simulation tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL
- Curiosity, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for developing new technologies
