Warehouse Operations & Process Improvement Manager

Position Summary

The Warehouse Operations & Process Improvement Manager is responsible for leading warehouse optimization initiatives, driving operational excellence, and serving as the primary point of contact for customer escalations and strategic warehouse projects. This role partners closely with operations, warehouse leadership, and customers to improve efficiency, strengthen inventory controls, standardize processes, and implement technology solutions that enhance visibility, accuracy, and service delivery.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with expertise in warehouse operations, process improvement, inventory management, and change management. This individual will develop scalable solutions that support growth while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary escalation point of contact for key customer accounts, proactively resolving operational issues and supporting strategic warehouse initiatives.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to identify operational improvements that enhance service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assess current warehouse receiving, storage, fulfillment, and shipping processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that improve workflow, productivity, quality, and overall warehouse performance.
  • Evaluate warehouse layouts and facility utilization, recommending improvements that maximize storage capacity, workflow efficiency, and employee safety.
  • Design and implement inventory control processes that improve inventory accuracy, reduce discrepancies, and support a zero-error inventory management environment.
  • Establish best practices for receiving, handling, storage, cycle counting, and shipping to ensure consistent operational execution.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), barcode scanning technologies, and related operational systems to improve inventory visibility and traceability.
  • Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that support consistent warehouse operations, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
  • Lead training initiatives for managers, supervisors, warehouse associates, and operations personnel on new processes, systems, and best practices.
  • Mentor operational leaders and warehouse teams while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, analyze performance data, and recommend corrective actions to improve efficiency and service levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Customer Service, Sales, IT, and executive leadership to successfully implement process improvements and operational initiatives.
  • Support organizational growth by identifying scalable warehouse solutions and operational best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred; equivalent operational experience will be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive warehouse, distribution, logistics, or operations leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading warehouse process improvements, operational transformations, or facility optimization projects.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), barcode scanning technology, and inventory control processes.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, Lean methodologies, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to influence change, train teams, and build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse technology platforms.
