Position Overview
The Outbound Shipping Lead is responsible for supporting and coordinating international (EMEA/APAC) shipping operations while contributing to overall outbound performance. This role combines hands-on operational execution with a focus on process consistency, workflow coordination, and team support to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient shipment processing.
The Lead works closely with the Outbound Supervisor to maintain daily operational flow, reinforce standard processes, and assist in supporting team performance. While international shipping is a primary focus, this role collaborates with the broader outbound team to ensure alignment across all shipping activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee the printing and processing of international customer and warehouse orders.
- Make necessary electronic changes to orders to meet specific requirements and ensure accuracy.
- File AES (Automated Export System) documents for the company to comply with export regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained for all international shipments.
- Schedule consolidation days for customers to optimize shipping and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure smooth operations and timely execution of orders.
- Monitor and enhance the efficiency of the picking and packing processes according to ISO standards.
- Implement and oversee quality control measures to maintain high standards in shipping operations.
- Supervise and support the international shipping team, ensuring that daily tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Provide training and guidance to team members as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with sales, customer service, and international branches via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Address and resolve any issues related to international shipping and order fulfillment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in distribution center / warehouse
- Knowledge of international shipping rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Understanding of shipping destinations, countries, codes, and restrictions.
- Ability to motivate, support and provide feedback to staff effectively.
- Capacity to learn international shipping terminal operations.
- Proficiency in Excel for data management and analysis.
- Knowledge of Outlook for email and calendar management.
- Proficient use of ERP/ EMS systems for order and inventory management.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to alternate sitting, walking and standing up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to climb ladders up to 16 feet
Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment with moderate noise from power industrial trucks
