Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer specializing in Test Automation to contribute to the quality engineering efforts for Infinia, DDN’s large-scale distributed data platform.
In this role, you will support the validation of distributed system components by executing test cases, contributing to automation, and learning to work with complex infrastructure systems. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to ensure product quality while building your technical expertise in testing, automation, and system-level validation.
This is an early-career role suited for individuals eager to grow in quality engineering and distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Test Execution & Validation
- Execute functional, integration, and system-level test cases for platform components such as scheduling, I/O paths, and services.
- Validate features against requirements and report defects with clear reproduction steps.
- Assist in verifying bug fixes and regression testing cycles.
Automation Contribution
- Contribute to automation by writing test scripts using tools such as Python or Pytest.
- Run automated test suites and report failures with relevant logs.
- Help maintain test scripts and ensure they are up to date.
Reliability & Scale Testing
- Support execution of stability & stress tests with predefined scenarios.
- Collect and analyze logs and metrics for identifying issues.
- Assist senior engineers in identifying system behavior under load.
Collaboration & Learning
- Work closely with team members to understand system architecture, features, and testing approaches.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint activities, and test reviews.
- Continuously learn tools, frameworks, and testing methodologies used in the team.
Documentation & Reporting
- Document test cases, test execution results, and defect details.
- Maintain reports on test coverage and execution progress.
- Follow established QA processes and standards and suggest improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 1 – 5 years of experience in software test development or quality engineering.
- Programming or scripting knowledge (Python preferred).
- Good OS concepts.
- Understanding of software testing fundamentals (functional, regression, integration testing).
- Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to automation frameworks (e.g., Pytest) through coursework or projects.
- Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts (Jenkins or similar).
- Introductory understanding of distributed systems, networking, or storage concepts.
- Experience in backend or infrastructure testing.
