We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Title Clerk. The Title Clerk is responsible for accurately processing vehicle titles, registrations, lien releases, and related documentation while ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Process vehicle title transfers, registrations, and license plate applications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit title paperwork to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
- Verify ownership documents, lien information, and supporting paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate records of all vehicle title transactions.
- Monitor outstanding titles and follow up with customers, financial institutions, and dealerships as necessary.
- Process payoffs, lien releases, duplicate titles, and title corrections.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing vehicle titles and registrations.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer and company information.
- Assist accounting with posting title fees, reconciling schedules, and maintaining accurate records.
- Respond to customer, lender, and DMV inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Organize and maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
- Assist with additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous automotive dealership title clerk experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of DMV title and registration procedures.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Experience with dealership management software (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar) preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of state title regulations and registration requirements.
- Basic accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
- Customer service experience.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
- Ability to occasionally lift to 20 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive filing and document handling.
Pay Range: $22.00–$28.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
