US Tax Manager / Senior Manager

is a Big 4 firm in Bermuda, part of a wider island-based network of several thousand professionals spanning multiple offshore jurisdictions. The firm provides audit, tax and advisory services to a broad client base, with particular strength in insurance, asset management and international business.

Joining the tax management team, you will assist in the growth and development of the US Tax practice while supervising the preparation of US income tax returns for a sophisticated client base : corporations, partnerships, and specialised areas including property & casualty insurance, and hedge funds / private equity funds. You will work directly with the Tax Partners, bringing a high level of technical knowledge and judgement.
Key responsibilities
- Supervising the preparation of US income tax returns for corporations and/or partnerships, insurance entities and investment funds, although experience with insurance companies and/or investment funds (hedge funds, private equity) is a plus; ASC 740 tax provision review experience preferred
- Overseeing tax staff, managing projects, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance in client delivery
- Maintaining strong technical knowledge of US domestic and international tax rules relevant to the client base
- Building and maintaining client relationships
- Supporting the professional development of staff through supervision, mentoring and training
- Contributing to the growth and development of the practice
Requirements
- Manager level: at least 5 years of US tax experience in public accounting or a professional services environment, with a US tax specialisation
- Senior Manager level: 6–8 years of US tax experience
- CPA designation (EA, LLM in Taxation, ACA, ACCA or CA also considered; LLM in Tax preferred at SM level)
- Strong technical knowledge of US federal income tax for corporations and partnerships
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and develop tax staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high attention to detail; comfortable working independently and within a small team
- Flexibility to manage extended hours during busy periods
- Willingness to relocate to Bermuda (full assistance and work permit sponsorship provided)
