Pastry Chef /Ocean
Job description
Position: Pastry Chef
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and execute a variety of desserts and pastries for our guests, including cakes, tarts, pies, and other specialty items
- Create new and innovative dessert and pastry recipes that will impress our guests
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop menus and ensure that all pastries and desserts are in line with the overall culinary concept of the ship
- Train and supervise junior pastry chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality in all pastry and dessert preparations
- Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen and ensure that all equipment is well-maintained
- Collaborate with other departments, such as the dining room and bar, to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests
- Participate in menu tastings and provide feedback to improve the overall dining experience for our guests
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and techniques to continuously improve and innovate our pastry offerings
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-volume, fine dining establishment
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a reputable culinary institution
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles
- Creativity and ability to develop new and unique dessert and pastry recipes
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively train and supervise kitchen staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Prior experience working on a cruise ship is a plus, but not required
