Endoscopy Technician - Revo Health
Job description
The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting physicians and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures, ensuring proper preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of endoscopic equipment, and supporting efficient patient flow within the endoscopy suite. This role requires strict adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
This is a part-time, 0.75 FTE, position follows a two-week schedule rotation. One week consists of four 8-hour shifts (32 hours), and the alternating week consists of three 8-hour shifts and one 4-hour shift (28 hours). Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday with a rotating weekday off out of our Edina Specialty Surgery Center. The department is closed on weekends and holidays. This schedule offers flexibility while maintaining regular daytime hours and excellent work life balance.

Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge of endoscopic procedures sufficient to assist with cases, including patient positioning and room setup.
- Prepares procedure rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and functioning equipment prior to each case.
- Assists physicians and nursing staff during procedures, anticipating needs and passing instruments as appropriate.
- Performs manual cleaning and high-level disinfection (HLD) of endoscopes in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and infection control standards.
- Demonstrates knowledge of scope reprocessing, including leak testing, cleaning, disinfection, drying, and proper storage.
- Maintains and monitors endoscopy equipment to ensure operational readiness; identifies and reports malfunctions.
- Tracks and documents scope reprocessing and equipment logs per regulatory and organizational standards.
- Applies principles of aseptic technique, standard precautions, and infection prevention practices.
- Assists with patient transport, positioning, and turnover of procedure rooms between cases.
- Maintains procedure rooms, reprocessing areas, and storage spaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Stocks supplies and assists with inventory management, ensuring adequate levels for daily operations.
- Collaborates with nursing and procedural teams to promote efficient workflow and a high-quality patient experience.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills for documentation, tracking systems, and communication.
- Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., SGNA, CDC, OSHA, manufacturer IFUs).
- Reports equipment issues, patient safety concerns, and occurrences through established reporting processes.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Participates in orientation and ongoing education of new staff when applicable.
- Engages in continuing education to maintain competency in GI endoscopy practices.
- Supports cost containment through appropriate use of supplies and equipment.
- Promotes a clean, safe, and efficient care environment.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Previous endoscopy technician experience strongly preferred.
- GI Endoscopy Technician certification (SGNA Advanced Associates or equivalent) preferred or obtained within 18 months of hire.
- Current BLS certification or completed upon hire.

Working Conditions
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the shift.
- Must be able to frequently perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
- Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).
