Position Summary
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy is seeking an On-Call Research Scientist 1 to perform scientific research tasks requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. The successful candidate will, under general supervision, use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to perform advanced scientific methods and research tasks requiring development, application, and adaptation of established protocols, and both generate and follow standard operating procedures for reproducible results. This person will design, organize, and perform research experiments for analyses related to achieving project goals and objectives. The individual will collect, analyze and interpret data, and prepare and present statistical analyses and narrative reports. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a laboratory notebook and performing scientific experiments and thus should be detail-oriented. The successful candidate will have experience with analytical instrumentation, including high performance liquid chromatography for determination of drug concentrations in various samples, knowledge and experience with polymer systems, film coating processes, and casting of free films, and experience in statistical evaluation and graphical display of data.

Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Documented evidence of hands-on research experience in a pharmaceutical sciences laboratory
- Documented evidence of hands-on use of analytical instrumentation, including high performance liquid chromatography
- Knowledge of polymer systems, film coating processes, and casting free films
- Experience writing preliminary reports that summarize data and methods used and that include statistical evaluation and graphical display
