This position will be located onsite in Montgomery, Alabama.

Job Overview

The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling and dispatching workers for the conveyance of materials, freight or passengers for installation, service or emergency repairs. In this position you present a professional presence to both the customer and the drivers.

This is an onsite role at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

  • Receive transportation requests from customers.
  • Record all requests on forms, logs, and in appropriate computer programs.
  • Provide information to drivers to enable pickup of customers.
  • Control usage of taxis to ensure maximum coverage of base areas with minimum delays.
  • Coordinate taxi operations with bus operations to provide inter-area connections.
  • Notify supervisor of any improper radio discipline.
  • Correspond with customers.
  • Generate reports and maintain dispatch records.
  • Assist supervisor with compiling list of vehicles available for dispatch.
  • In coordination with supervisor assign vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements and preference of user.
  • Issue keys and dispatch forms.
  • Record time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.
  • Brief customers receiving vehicles of any special instructions as well as how to properly control and utilize
  • Government Fleet Card Fuel Credit Card.
  • Contact customers for status updates and report overdue vehicles.
  • May maintain record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made and other expenses.
  • Work with supervisor to establish service and delivery routes best suited for drivers.
  • Issue equipment to drivers.
  • Use two-way radio, telephone, email and site software.
  • Fairly and equally direct activities to drivers.
  • May need to assign Bus Aides and/or helpers to routes/drivers.
  • Plot coordinates on GeoBase/Grid Map -training provided semiannually or as required to maintain proficiency.
  • Familiar with regulations governing Official Use guidance.
  • Verify operators are properly licensed prior to issuing vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Timely completion and accuracy of all work.
  • Working closely and harmoniously with other employees.
  • Adherence to contract requirements, safety and health regulations, and company policies.

Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • 3+ years’ experience in dispatching and/or professional driving.
  • Experience working in a military transportation maintenance operation, preferred.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Comfortable with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and have working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail to meet multiple daily deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • Able to lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
