8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Location Description

The Blaine, Washington plant produces almond and cashew butter, with annual production of approximately 8 million pounds. The site supports a small team of manufacturing and support employees and plays an important role in supplying specialty nut butter products.

Blaine, Washington, acts as the final U.S. border town directly on the 49th parallel, nestled immediately between Vancouver, BC (35 miles north) and Bellingham, WA, while serving as the primary northern terminus of Interstate 5, about 110 miles north of Seattle. It is home to the famous Peace Arch State Park and two major border crossings.

Responsibilities

Purpose

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting environmental, health, and safety programs while also serving as a cross-functional support resource for operations, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and plant administration.

In addition to core EHS responsibilities, this role serves as a key cross-functional support resource for Operations, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resource initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Support and facilitate safety training and programs.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records and reporting.
  • Conduct routine floor audits and safety observations, providing real-time coaching and partnering with employees to promote safe work practices, engagement, reporting, and compliance with company policies and OSHA/environmental regulations
  • Coordinate safety activities, i.e., monthly audits, monthly meetings, and publishing/posting of metrics
  • Assist with administration and continuous improvement of safety programs, including PPE, hazard communication, and site-specific procedures
  • Monitor workplace conditions and perform basic hazard identification and testing (e.g., ergonomics, noise, chemical exposure), escalating concerns and supporting corrective actions
  • Support environmental compliance activities, including inspections, documentation, and identification/escalation of potential risks
  • Perform routine administrative support tasks, including data entry, document control, and tracking of safety-related activities
  • Complete other duties as assigned to support day-to-day EHS operations

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and submit purchase orders in support of departmental needs.
  • Conduct cost analysis projects across departments to identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Serve as a Continuous Improvement (CI) team member and help drive participation across departments.
  • Assist with Town Hall events including coordinating topics, setup, and teardown.
  • Coordinate employee surveys and ensure team member participation.
  • Partner with HR during open enrollment and assist team members as needed.
  • Create presentations for weekly, monthly, and visitor meetings.
  • Provide JDE system backup support including closing daily work orders during absences.
  • Prepare reports for the Plant Manager with departmental updates.
  • Assist maintenance with parts research and ordering.

Support organization and entry of maintenance parts into CMMS.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate degree or technical training in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, safety, or EHS support role
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety practices
  • Experience conducting audits, training, or incident investigations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with hourly and salaried employees.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment
  • Regular exposure to production areas, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and climb stairs throughout the shift
  • May be required to work flexible hours or different shifts to support operations
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) The pay range for this position is $48,489 - $65,946 per year.
