The Role

The UKRI College for Doctoral Training in Environmental Intelligence: Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Sustainable Futures (EICDT) develops the use of Data Science & AI alongside Social Sciences to create transformational science and tools to enable informed decision making across a range of sectors related to the environment, including climate, water, energy, finance and insurance, infrastructure and health. The rapidly growing availability of data from multiple, inter-related sources, provides the opportunity for a step-change in our ability to find solutions to important challenges related to our interaction with the natural environment.

The CDT has provided an inter-disciplinary training environment for over 50 students across 5 cohorts since September 2019, plus an affiliated 6th Cohort in 2024. Students are being equipped with the skills to become tomorrows' leaders in Environmental Intelligence, and with career prospects across academia and the public and private sectors. It is a crucial and exciting time in the life-cycle of the CDT and assessing the progress and outputs of our students' research is critical to the continued development of this emerging research agenda.
