Our Merchandising Managers play a critical role in maximizing dealership profitability by strategically managing new and used vehicle inventory, pricing, and merchandising. They help ensure the right vehicles are in stock, properly marketed, and retail-ready while supporting inventory turn and overall dealership performance.
We're looking for an experienced and analytical Merchandising Manager to join our sales leadership team. In this role, you'll oversee inventory merchandising, vehicle acquisition, pricing strategy, reconditioning, and inventory management while working closely with dealership leadership to maximize profitability and maintain a competitive market presence. Responsibilities
- Manage new and used vehicle inventory to ensure an optimal mix based on market demand, inventory turn, and dealership goals.
- Monitor inventory pricing and market trends to maintain competitive vehicle pricing while maximizing gross profit.
- Coordinate the acquisition of inventory through auctions, trades, and other purchasing channels.
- Oversee vehicle reconditioning, ensuring vehicles are prepared, photographed, and merchandised for retail sale in a timely manner.
- Manage inventory merchandising, including online vehicle listings, vehicle photography, and vehicle presentation standards.
- Monitor inventory aging, cost-to-market metrics, and inventory turn to maximize profitability and minimize wholesale losses.
- Work closely with the General Manager, Sales Managers, and Service Department to coordinate inventory movement and reconditioning priorities.
- Assist with vehicle appraisals and trade evaluations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attend manager meetings and contribute to dealership sales, merchandising, and marketing initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; previous automotive dealership inventory, merchandising, used vehicle, or sales management experience preferred.
- Experience with dealership inventory management systems such as vAuto, VinSolutions, or similar platforms preferred.
- Strong understanding of vehicle pricing strategies, inventory management, and automotive market trends.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
