Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Digital Media Officer, the Content Director is responsible for building the next generation of social-native content verticals for moderate women. The Content Director serves as the creative lead for the internal production arm of Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action. This is a role for a proven creative developer who thrives taking market research, a blank canvas and a scrappy budget into content that breaks through and scales up.

The Director owns the full development lifecycle — from concept to audience definition to episode structure to launch — for new social content verticals, including original series, formats, and channel presences built for specific audiences and platforms. Early priorities for this role include shaping the next generation of flagship content brands and developing scalable new formats grounded in audience insight and platform behavior. This role works closely with our Production Director and the SVP of Programs on concept development and production.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Content Development and Concept Incubation
  • Conceive, develop, and launch new social-native content verticals from scratch, including defining audience, platform strategy, format, tone, and episode structure
  • Manage a lean development budget across multiple concepts simultaneously, making smart bets and sunsetting what is not working quickly
  • Define and track success metrics for each concept — including, but not limited to, audience size, return viewership, and engagement depth — and make clear-eyed scaling or sunsetting decisions based on performance
  • Hand off proven concepts to dedicated brand teams and immediately begin the next development cycle
  • Collaborate with production staff to bring concepts to life without overbuilding before proof of concept is established
  • Use AI-assisted creative tools and workflows to shape social content development, audience engagement, and scalable experimentation across platforms
  • Work with brand team leadership on content concepts where relevant, ensuring entity alignment from the start
  • Research Integration and Audience Strategy
  • Rapidly absorb and apply Galvanize's psychographic research and behavioral science framework to content development decisions
  • Collaborate with the research team to stay current on audience insights and integrate new findings into development work
  • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets every two weeks
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • At least eight years of experience in digital content development, social media brand building, or related fields — with demonstrated success building social-native content from the ground up
  • Proven track record of developing new content concepts with lean budgets, including the ability to pilot multiple ideas simultaneously, assess performance, and make disciplined scaling decisions
  • Experience applying audience research, consumer insights, or behavioral frameworks to content development decisions
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep fluency in social-native content formats across platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and emerging channels
  • Strong creative instincts combined with the discipline to let audience data and research sharpen those instincts
  • Comfort with ambiguity and iteration — treats early failure as information, not defeat
  • Ability to manage lean budgets with high accountability and strategic prioritization
  • Experience with AI-assisted content production tools and workflows
  • Strong project management skills and ability to run multiple development cycles simultaneously
  • Genuine interest in civic life, democracy, and the cultural forces shaping moderate women's worldview
  • Ability to travel as needed (typically, 2-4 times/year)

Valued and Non-Essential Characteristics

  • Experience in civic media, or advocacy content
  • Familiarity with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entity structures and compliance requirements
  • Experience building or managing creator relationships and talent pipelines
  • Background in or knowledge of behavioral science, audience psychology, or persuasion research
